In March 2016 I obtained the master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering at Politecnico di Torino, after working on my master thesis at Newcastle University (UK). In particular, the master thesis project was focused on the assessment and characterisation of a collagen/alginate/fibrin hydrogel for potential use in treatment of diabetes type I.
In September 2016 I joined the IRIS group as research fellow, while in October 2017 I started an interdepartmental PhD Programme in Bioengineering and Medical-Surgical Sciences with the aim to investigate the design of biomimetic 3D scaffolds based on Type I Collagen. My research activities, mainly framed in the ERC BOOST Project, are focused on the optimisation of hybrid materials based on type I collagen and bioactive inorganic phases suitable for the 3D printing of high-resolution complex structures mimicking the natural bone tissue. In addition, according to the goals of the EU-funded project GIOTTO, part of my work is devoted to the study of bioactive hybrid systems for producing collagen-based scaffolds by means of electrospinning technologies.
